BUSHCRAFT

Summary:

Live in nature learn from nature

Date:

May 2017
Description:

Ever since I've watched Ray Mears on Discovery channel I've been fascinated by nature and bushcraft. To obtain the skills that make it possible to sustain oneself in nature and be able to enjoy it's beauty while surviving in it with as little equipment as possible. It's a skill that can be learned and with experience you can form an intimate relationship with nature. Understand more about all of her facets and work with nature instead of against it to sustain yourself, survive and even thrive. There's something very essential in learning these skills as if the body recognizes it instantly. Out in nature there are no bills, no appointments, no debts, no status. Just you, your skills, and nature.

Building a traditional longbow with just a knife, an axe and a couple of other hand tools was something I've been wanting to learn for a long time. This video was a real inspiration for me to try and create bow and arrows from only materials found in nature. A bow is a stick that is 99% broken, all of the magic happens in the last 1%. I've had a lot of fun hunting apples out in the woods.
